HERCULANEUM WEATHER

Jim Kasten
City Administrator

I have been in Herculaneum for nearly all of my 61 years. I attended school in the Dunklin R-5 and graduated from Herculaneum High School in 1966. Following my graduation, I was appointed to the United States Naval Academy and was inducted into the United States Navy in June of 1966. I attended the Naval Academy for 3 1/2 years and then transferred to Southeast Missouri State University from where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

In June of 1970, I married my high school sweetheart, Tina Avery. I taught Junior High Science at Senn-Thomas Middle School for four years. I also coached high school football and track at Herculaneum High School. I later taught mathematics and physics at Windsor High School and was the head Cross Country and Track coach at Windsor and assistant football coach.

My wife and I raised three children, Erin, Carrie and Ryun. All three children attended the Dunklin R-5 Schools and graduated from Herculaneum High School. I have three granddaughters, Lane, Claire and Finley and a fourth grandchild due in February 2010.

I worked for 29 years at H.W. Herrelll Distributing Company in Imperial, Missouri before taking the City Administrator position for the City of Herculaneum. I am a volunteer high school Cross Country coach and Track coach working with my son Ryun who is the Head Coach at Herculaneum High School.

I am a member of the Dunklin R-5 Board of Education where I serve as vice-president of the Board. I am a the vice-president of Herculaneum Today & Tomorrow. I am also a member of the Jefferson County Water Authority Board, the Economic Development Commission, the Jefferson County Portt Authority and numerous other boards and committees for the City of Herculaneum.

I love the city that my family has grown up in and calls home. My wife and I are truly blessed.
